Peter Cummings

ESSEX was cofounded by Peter and Tom Cash. Tom is a veteran in the financial services industry, having spent 33 years at American Express where he served in several Senior Executive roles.

Ten years ago, Peter and Tom recognized that most legacy companies were faced with substantial but complex data monetization opportunities, in all aspects of the customer journey cycle and its associated delivery economics. They realized that developing and operationalizing monetization solutions driven by artificial intelligence(AI), machine learning(ML) and other advanced analytical techniques would be essential to future competitive advantage. Moreover, they also recognized that the ability to deliver solutions quickly and economically would be paramount. In 2009 they founded ESSEX with this mission.

Essex ‘s foundation is the result of substantial investments in five areas:

• The development of a proprietary methodology called Data Intelligence At the Core (DIAC™) which powers our analytical engines utilizing AI, ML and other advanced analytical techniques.

• The development of a flexible, modular, DIAC™ powered, mobile guidance platform called EyeGuide™, that provides decision guidance, visibility, tracking and communications - video, voice, mail and text. All ESSEX developed solutions have the option of being operationalized with EyeGuide™.

• The development of an extensive proprietary IP library, that enables the operationalization of proven “battletested” monetization solutions. New solutions continue to be added and older IP is frequently upgraded.

• Full Stack Agile (FSA). Developing and operationalizing data-intelligence-driven solutions requires a very broad range of skills including data scientists, advanced mathematicians, software engineers, user interface & user experience designers, profit enhancement specialists and subject matter experts to name a few. Full Stack Agile is a methodology that ensures the optimal efficiency and effectiveness of these resources working together, to develop, deploy and maintain our solutions.

• Single Global Office (SGO). From its inception Essex pioneered the single global office concept. All of our resources are available to any client regardless of geographic location. We can deploy an entire solution team, to any geographical location, within approximately two weeks or less, regardless of the skills required – the two-week requirement is mainly for Visas.

Peter continues to lead the expansion of Essex across the globe. Today ESSEX serves clients in the Financial Services Industry, in USA, Canada, Britain, Spain, China – Mainland & Taiwan, and South Africa. Further expansion in Europe, Asia and Rest of Africa is currently underway.

Prior to Essex, Peter held executive positions at ICO Global Communications, A. C. Nielsen and Dun & Bradstreet. He also worked at McKinsey & Co and held managerial positions at Bristol Myers Squibb and the Guyana Mining Enterprise Corporation.

Peter has an MBA with Distinction, from the Wharton School of Business and is inducted in the Wharton Chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma, the MBA Honor Society for Academic Achievement. He also holds a B.A.Sc. with Honors, in Industrial Engineering, from the University of Toronto.

During his professional career he has lived and worked in several countries – Guyana, Canada, USA, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Spain, Argentina, Belgium, Great Britain, India, South Africa and China. Today Peter lives in Shanghai, China and travels across the globe every month to visit Essex’s Clients and operations.

Peter is fluent in English, Spanish and Mandarin. He is a very keen wildlife photographer, an active sportsman and an enthusiastic golfer - although his golf ambitions exceed his scoring.
