Joseph Collum

Joseph (Joe) F. Collum, Executive Vice President and Director of Branch & Business Banking, joined Burke & Herbert Bank in 1995. In his more than twenty-five years with the Bank, Joe has held a variety of positions with increasing levels of responsibility. Joe’s first experience at Burke & Herbert Bank was as a summer intern in the Bank’s operations area. After graduating from college, Joe accepted a full-time position as a teller, and moved up from there to other branch roles, including Branch Manager. In 2001, he joined the Bank’s lending team where he was responsible for developing and managing lending relationships with local businesses. He rejoined the Bank’s branch banking team in 2009 as an Area Manager with responsibility for overseeing the Bank’s Alexandria and Arlington area branches. In his current position, Joe leads the Bank’s entire branch organization, small business lending and the consumer mortgage sales team. Born and raised in Alexandria, Virginia, Joe is an active and involved citizen. He is currently Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Virginia Banker’s Association School of Bank Management. In addition, he served on the Board of Directors of the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce from 2007-2012 and the Board of Directors for Rebuilding DC|Alexandria from 2012-2020, serving as Chairman of the Board from 2017-2019. Joe received his Bachelor of Science degree in business administration with a concentration in marketing from Longwood University in 1994. He graduated from the Virginia Banker’s Association School of Bank Management in 2003, the American Banker’s Association Stonier Graduate School of Banking in 2021 and completed the Wharton Leadership Program in 2021.
