Rafael Olazagasti

Rafael Olazagasti is the Assistant Vice President, Sales and Service Market Leader at SECU, Maryland’s largest credit union. Raf, as he is known by many, joined SECU in January of 2019 to lead their community development and branch effectiveness strategy and execution. Prior to joining SECU, Raf spent 11 years at Wells Fargo Bank where he was most recently the District Manager of the Greater Central Maryland market. Raf joined Wells Fargo in 2007 as a Financial Specialist, became a successful licensed Personal Banker, and later served as a Financial Center Manager in several Maryland branches. During his time in commercial banking, Raf earned his MBA from the University of Baltimore and completed several in-house developmental programs. He has had the opportunity to participate in various local and regional councils and committees and is also a recent graduate of Leadership Howard County’s Premier Program.

Raf values his obligation to his community, where he has spent the last five years on the Community Relations Council for the Woodland Job Corps in Laurel; for which he was recognized in 2018 as their Student Engagement Award winner. Raf has also served the last three years as a project lead for Rebuilding Together – Howard County and served for three years as the Chair of the Wells Fargo Latin Connection Team Member Network’s Maryland chapter. This commitment to team and community recently earned Raf an award from The Daily Record for its 2018 VIP List – Very Important Professionals by 40.

Raf is an avid sports fan, following the Baltimore Ravens and Orioles and Liverpool FC. When not at work, Raf enjoys spending time with friends and family, reading, golfing, and cooking. He resides in Sykesville, MD with his wife, Katie, and their four kids: Maddie, Owen and identical twins, Jaynie and Allie.
